The agreement, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding, brings together the expertise of three industry leaders:

- iXAfrica: Offering secure, scalable, and AI-ready data center infrastructure.
Together, they're building a robust foundation for digital transformation in East Africa. TCS will deploy its TCS Sovereign Secure Cloud™, a specialized offering tailored for government entities, public enterprises, and regulated industries. This bespoke cloud solution will provide the necessary architecture, deployment frameworks, and security expertise. But here's where it gets controversial: This partnership directly addresses the growing need for data to be housed within a country's borders, regulated by regional laws, and managed through secure infrastructure.
Satishchandra Doreswamy, Vice President & Head, Cloud Unit – Growth Markets, TCS, highlights the benefits, stating that their sovereign cloud, powered by AI-driven intelligence, is designed to meet the most stringent privacy and regulatory standards. Sybyl, as a leading systems integrator in East Africa, will take the lead in local implementation, support, and customer enablement. Shailendra Yadav, CEO of Sybyl Kenya & Tanzania, underscores the importance of digital independence, emphasizing that it must deliver tangible gains. He points out that running the sovereign cloud in iXAfrica’s AI-ready campus, combined with TCS’ cloud expertise, will reduce currency exposure, mitigate foreign policy risks, and create skilled jobs for Africans.
iXAfrica, with its AI-ready data center campus (NBOX1), will provide the secure and scalable infrastructure for hosting the Sovereign Cloud. Snehar Shah, CEO of iXAfrica, stresses that data sovereignty is the cornerstone of Africa’s digital future. Hosting the Sovereign Cloud within iXAfrica’s AI-ready campus ensures that African data remains within Africa, secure, sustainable, and ready for innovation.
